Rehman’s maiden speech in parliament makes the national press (Quoted in The Daily Telegraph, Daily Express, and Sky News online)

Thursday 8 July 2010. Rehman made his maiden speech in parliament on the issue of defendant anonymity. Rehman talked about a number of measures that can be introduced to increase conviction in rape cases, as well as proposals to preserve a defendant’s anonymity until conviction.

Rehman’s argument was based on fairness and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.  Rehman’s speech was well received from members of the house from all sides. One senior opposition member described Rehman’s speech as a excellent eloquent speech.
