Rehman called in for a coffee at the Dementia Café in Parkwood on Tuesday (19 August 2014).
The Alzheimer’s Society runs three Dementia Cafes in Medway, which provide an opportunity for people to meet regularly and discuss the challenges of living with dementia.
Rehman spoke to a number of residents and learned how the Café helps them to cope when their lives become affected by the symptoms of dementia.
The Café provides information and practical tips on dementia and meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month between 1-3pm.
Rehman said:
"The Parkwood Dementia Café offers a fantastic service, giving advice and supporting vulnerable people in need. Visiting the Café was an excellent opportunity to meet people and learn about their experiences.
"I know that the Government sees improving care for people with dementia and their families as a priority and are committed to double funding for research by 2015, to ensure that people get the support they need."
