On Friday (7 September) Rehman presented a plaque to MidKent College’s Student Union for coming second in the Speaker’s School Council Awards.
The Student Union won the prize for their Big Travel Debate project, which Rehman spoke at in March. This debate considered local travel issues faced by students.
It was chaired and organised by the former President of the Student Union, James Phillips, who accepted the award on behalf of the Union.
The Speaker’s School Council Awards was launched in 2009 and is a national award scheme to celebrate and recognise excellence in school and college councils.
Rehman said:
“This award is befitting of such a fantastic college and students’ union. It represents the hard work put in by staff and students on a daily basis.
“The Big Travel Debate was expertly run and has helped put MidKent College on the map. Any future campaigns have a tough act to follow.”
