SIR - The debate over aviation has unfortunately become polarised as a choice between Heathrow expansion (report, August 26) and a vast new airport in the Thames estuary.
There are many other viable options that should be considered, including the "Heathwick" option, the use of RAF Northolt, expanding Birmingham and Manston airports, and the increasing role of high-speed rail.
The Government's forthcoming call for evidence will give us an opportunity to explore them all.
